There's a lot of speculation about a new Voltron being annouced soon...

And I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I mean I am not surprised at the idea that Dreamworks having spent a great deal of money on the license isn't willing to let the disaster that VLD was be the end of things but I honestly would be surprised if we get an announcement this soon. I was thinking later in the year when the stink of season 8 has died down.

But who knows and if an announcement does happen the form it takes will be interesting. I mean if it's a continuation of VLD they'll have to somehow address that ending in a way that makes folks want to watch and if it is a total reboot they'll need to show something that makes folks want to give this new one a chance.

And if folks are right about some kind of hybrid sequel that retcons the ending of VLD in some way well that would be even weirder and a harder sale I think but it could certainly be interesting.

Add in how curious I am about how the whole exclusive deal with Hulu will play into things. I mean would this new Voltron even be on netflix or will it move to hulu. If it moves to Hulu will that affect if it can be a sequel to vld or not. How much say does netflix have on the vld property? all are questions that will need answers.

And of course there's the fact that a subset of the fandom refuses to believe the former executive producers are in anyway culpable for the mess blaming it all on nebulous executive meddling would also affect the possibility of a sequel/reboot/whatever approach.

Ah well this upcomming convention will be interesting no matter what is or isn't annouced.

I think that a new one IS more or less inevitable, but they've tried to reboot Voltron so many times now, who knows? I know that people are speculating on a new one being announced, especially this weekend.

There's still two days left, I think, of whatever con this is (I forget, don't keep track of them)

Part of me is curious. And I saw some speculation that Netflix is kinda desperate to hold on to external properties- brands that aren't just originals, but still originals (?) maybe, because they're losing so many of their marvel licenses. So maybe.

It's all a big maybe. What I can see happening is a sequel movie being pushed out because s8 didn't feel like the end of the series to me. It felt like. Well. A mess.

I doubt whatever was made would satisfy the fans, though. I'm honestly skeptical of these claims.

As for Hulu, well, that's an interesting idea. Amazon could also be a contender as well. Who knows? Streaming services are becoming a bigger and bigger deal when it comes to programming and *shrugs*

TLDR: Haven't the foggiest, think a new series is kinda inevitable, agree that it might be years, but I hope otherwise.

Honestly? I'd be happy to drop Netflix and go to Hulu. Not too big of a change.
