obsidianwolf: 3 of 3 Icons I never change (Default)
In some alternate universe were I had total power over how the show was made. This is simply something to distract myself after anxiety woke me up in them middle of the night and now that I've resolved the cause of the anxiety I still can't sleep.

This follows a rough eight season out line but I will not mention shipping all I have aside form a bit about Lotor and Allura being drawn to each other. Also if anyone wants to borrow any of this for a fanfic feel free.

Anyway I would leave Season 1& 2 mostly unchanged except for two things.

1. There would be an episode where Allura flew one of the lions while it's paladin was injured (black would be my preference but Blue would work for nostalgia). This episode would reveal that since Allura was linked to all the lions she could stand in as a temporary Paladin for any of them. Flashbacks in the episode would also reveal that Allura was the one that got the black lion away from Zarkon. We would see her father and the other Paladins distracting him while Allura flying it away to the Castle. It would end with a flash back to their argument Allura wanted to try to pilot the black lion against Zarkon and show Alfor worried that Zarkon would take control again.

2. The flashbacks to Keith and Shiro's past would occur at the start of season 2. In my dream world Shiro would have been revealed as Queer much earlier.

Seasons 3 & 4 would be very different and there would be no lion swap.

Season Three would open with Allura filling in for Shiro while searching for him and have come to the conclusion that something was wrong with the black lion. It would be getting harder for her to operate as if it was shutting down. Allura and the Paladins would have to face the prospect that if they couldn't find out what was wrong and fix it they might lose Voltron.

Since her father's hologram was lost they'd start investigating the original Paladins and how the lions were made. While also trying to hold a struggling alliance of worlds together without their best weapon. Hunk would get the diplomacy arc they teased several times during this as he turned out to be the best at helping Allura walk the fine line necessary to hold the alliance together.

Lotor would be in the back ground manipulating events and searching for something. Haggar would be beginning to remember but would not instantly be able to save Zarkon even once she remembered.

Season 3 would end with them finding Kuron who to their shock couldn't fly the black lion. It would also set up Season 4.

Season 4 would be a three way race to discover what they all needed Oriande. the Paladins need it to fix the black lion, Lotor needed it for his ships and Haggar needed it to save her husband Zarkon. Hagger would be shown watching both of the other groups. Lotor through Kova and Nyarti and the Paladins through Kuron.

The season would end with Lotor, Allura and Haggar all on Oriande confronting the white lion while the Paladins were put in danger by Kuron leading to the better parts of the Black paladins happening.

The confrontation with the white lion would go very different. Haggar would simply steal what she needed but in the process have much of her power taken from her. Lotor would win the knowledge to create weapons in combat but be denied the knowledge necessary to truly create. In other words while he could create a terrifying weapon it would not be Alive in the same way Voltron is.

Allura would prepare to fight at first and then realize the lion is reacting to her. When she's aggressive it is aggressive. So she stops fighting and simply asks for the knowledge approaching as a student willing to learn(no self sacrifice just stand there while a lion jumps at you sillyness) So she is the only one who proves worthy of learning everything.

The season's final shots would be two returns. Allura would use her new knowledge to reveal the Black Lion was sick because it was struggling to heal its paladin and use her new found knowledge to bring the real Shiro back (no clone body theft) cured of his illness and explicitly stated as such. Haggar meanwhile would despite her diminished abilities use the knowledge she stole to revive Zarkon.

Season Five would see the return of Zarkon to prominance as the big bad of the series and the restored Paladins and Allura opossing him and his forces. Lotor would be on the run from his father while searchign for the material he needed to create his Sinclone ships. Kuron would be alive and unbrainwashed and occupying a wierd place in the castle. There would be tension and some actual exploration of a near duplicate of another person showing up. During this season Matt and Sam Holt would be found. By the end of the season Shiro and Kuron would have made peace and Kuron would end up with the name Ryou just before he left with Sam Holt to make sure Earth knew what was coming.

Season Six would involve the Paladins and Lotor being forced to team up against Zarkon. I actually like villain lotor but not the way it was written in the show. Lotor would be a darker shade of grey from the beginning. There would be moments that showed he had the potential to be noble but also how ruthless he could be. There would be clear cut moments where he would take the quick most destructive path because it was the most efficient. Allura would be drawn to him but also wary of him. She would want to help him be a better person. I would include the colony but I would include a reason why Lotor was draining the quintessence. And the explanation should be good enough that it makes everyone think he may have been right. In fact when the confrontation happens Allura would actually admit it might have been necessary but also call out how he didn't give the Alteans a choice in the matter instead lying to them about a second colony because it made it easier for him to keep their worship and adoration. It would end with Sinclone destroyed and Lotor as prisoner on the castle. While a prisoner he would ask if she still wanted to help him be better person and she'd reply yes but unless he wanted it that couldn't happen.

The final fight against Zarkon would happen at the end of this season. Zarkon and Haggar would both die but in their death try to take everyone with them. This would be the moment when reality was in danger and to close it the paladins would have to fly the castle and voltorn into it. It would work but they'd vanish.

Season Seven would have two storylines. We'd see what was going on with the collapsing Galra Empire and Earth being invaded by Sendak and we'd see the adventures of everyone else trapped in a nightmare mirror universe with the evil Alteans. Over the course of the season we'd meet alternate versions of not just the Paladins but other characters including a heroic Lotor by the end of the season the good Lotor would have died but in doing so helped the Paladins inspire our Lotor to possibly change. The Paladins would eventulaly find a way home but someone would have to stay behind to destroy the machine so no one form that unvierse could come to theirs. IN the end Lotor would stay. IT would be left ambigous if he'd truly changed for the better or if he had other goals. Folks who wanted redemption can assume he is now the hero fighting the good fight and evil lotor fans can he'll just try to take over this one or anything in between.

Season Eight would involve the Paladins learning they were gone longer than they think several years instead of just a few months and most of the universe is now free but a chaotic space since the Galra empire collapsed and in its death throes took out the coaltion but that the largest chunk of the Galra empire still around is on Earth under Sendak. Earth has been christined the new Daibazaal and the new Galra homeworld while Humanity is nothing but slaves and entertainment. Sendak is preparing to retake the rest of the universe so the Paladins head to Earth to stop him.

After a season of struggle they'd triumph and Earth would be liberated and Sendak would die at Shiro's hands while all the Paladins had moments of Triumph. The series would end after a time skip showing a rebuilt Earth and the Paladins saying good bye to their families as they headed out into space to help the rest of the Universe and find the missing Altean Colonist and help Allura rebuild her home just like she and Coran helped rebuild Earth.

Anyway that's something like what I would have done if I'd been in charge of vld.
