The more a pairing is expected by folks who just assume any fic featuring the two characters will have them as a couple the more I want to read/write them as not a couple.
And I am not referring to the fandom juggernaut ships I am refering to those two people who are paired up because its expected. They never really get any focus they just sit around in the back ground and get lumped as together because they can easily be put into the bracket.
I mean I don't mind when a couple is just there in the back ground after all if they aren't the focus of the fic I don't want the author derailing things to showcase how they got together/how in love they are but when it is the same two over and over again with almost no focus ever from a lot of the writers putting them together it gets a bit monotonous you know.
